There may be as many as 3,000 varieties of tea in the world, not including the countless number of blends and flavors that are continually be created. Tea is the most consumed beverage in the world after water. While all tea come from the same Camellia Sinensis plant, there are many strains ( or varietals) of the basic plant. Most teas can be divided up into five basic categories according to how they are harvested and processed. These are: black, green, oolong, white, and pu erh. Aside from teas made from the Camellia Sinensis tea plant there are two other broad ranges of tea products categorized as Herbal infusions and Fruit blends. These are technically not teas, although they are often referred to as Herbal teas and Fruit teas.
